AAR: A Chance Driveby

Summer is still on, so its been slow somewhat, so a lot of people have done low sec roaming to occupy themselves in the meantime. Today I was heading to Amarr to pickup a ship to do just that, low sec roam, when I see a Kronos on DScan in a C3 while I was in my pod. I panic slightly, hoping he didn't see me and quickly log on my scan alt while people grab combat ships.

Hes not in any site, no wrecks, not on a Wormhole, still no wrecks so not a Data or Relic. Then I see the probes pop up on DScan, hes scanning, lost? who cares if he is or not, lets kill him. I launch combats out of DScan range, use DScan to narrow his position, scan, get him on the first try and warp my fleet mates in.

They chew through him slowly as I watch cloaked in my Buzzard. Then a Tengu and Loki land, and we start thinking it was a trap. But it turns out they were just helping but left when they realized they couldn't do anything. The Tengu warps out, but we nail the Loki before he can leave. The Kronos falls shortly afterwords and we snag the pod with no bubble as well.

So that turned out way better than low sec.

AAR: Summer Sparks

Summer lull has set in, with activity dropping across the board for a lot of people, but despite low activity, there are always those looking and scouting. Hops down a Task Force Proteus member into our Teamspeak chat asking for help on killing some Faction Battleships bashing a Player Owned Customs Office (POCO). They only had two online at the time and I was in high sec. I rip a few things off my Vindicator, slam a few things on, and start burning the 15 jumps to the entrance. Never used a Vindicator before for PvP, this will be interesting.

My corpmate Raar logs on, he hops in a Muninn and burns over as well. We stage one ump out from target wormhole, then jump in and warp to Planet 2 POCO.

Slight scare: the POCO just entered reinforced as we initiated warp, but Bob was with us and they were slow at warping off, allowing us to grab the Navy Megathron, Fleet Typhoon, Hyperion, and the Drake and his pod (it appears the Drake was afk bashing).

Video (I must figure out why some vids insert and some don't...)

Battle Report

Just a few little sparks in the Summer lull setting in. Hopefully a little more action in a few weeks.

AAR: In with the New, then Throw it Away

CCP has recently released a new lineup of ships with their most recent expansion Kronos: the Mordu's Legion ship line. Basicly these are fast missile boats with a warp disruptor and scrambler range bonus. As they only came out on the third of this month, the supply is limited, and thus the ships are much more expensive compared to what they could be in the future. Regardless, this does not prevent eager people to pour money into them and try to use them.

Que June 8th, scouts reported a Malediction and a Garmur, the frigate of the new lineup, sitting on a reduced C3 connection in their home C2 system. We have no idea why, but in most cases, frigates in wormhole space have backup nearby, and there were several ships ranging on DScan and a few were piloted. So, we decided to engage the frigates with my trusty Navy Augoror and hope one would tackle me and hold me until bigger stuff arrived. One jump back we had an Eris, a Rail Proteus, an Ishtar, and a Stabber Fleet Issue, waiting to be called in.

I warp at 30km off the C3, Scorch ammo loaded, and, the Malediction runs off. The Garmur; however, decides to burn straight towards me, not to kite, but to brawl, forgoing its massive speed advantage. My web and scrambler get on it, switch to Multifrequency ammo, and blap it, I was also able to get the pod. No idea what that fit was, Afterburner with a scrambler and light missiles and seemingly passive shield recharge tanking? No idea, but his new toy is dead.

I hang around in the C3 for a while trying to still bait their active pilots. Our Ishtar pilot leaves while we gain a Pilgrim. I see several different bombers appear and disappear on DScan, a Loki logs in, switches to a bomber, a Proteus logs in, switches to a bomber. What they going to do, bomb me with my 130k EHP inside their own armor-bonused system? We wait a bit more to see if they bite with their numbers of if they ship up into actual combat ships. Nothing happens though, so we go home.

-----

The second most recent addition to Eve was the Sisters of Eve ship lineup, which is basically a weird mix of Drones, Cloaks, Scanning, and Hacking. Overall though a pretty decent lineup, the Cruiser (Stratios) being especially potent.

Latter on that night we rolled the chain, but in the middle of rolling it we had someone speak in local. Small investigation latter discovers we have a direct low sec connection in our system, which is where he most likely comes from. Mike jumps in, pokes around and reports three people in local from the same corp as the speaker, including the speaker himself. Short while latter one of them lands in a Caracal on the wormhole. I reship into a Deimos, and warp. As I jump in though, he runs. That is ok though, I can sit there and see if they do more, they are obviously interested.

Indeed they are, the original speaker decloaks a Stratios next to me and tackles me, and I tackle back as his two friends in a Caracal and an Omen land on me. I am not concerned in the slightest though, as the Deimos I am flying is active tanked and I only have to cycle one of my two repairers to keep afloat. Realizing they can't break me, the Omen and Caracal warp off and the Stratios trys burning away from me. I still have him tackled well and good though. With a little more encouragement and the help of a late arriving corp mate he pops, and the timely arrival of Mike in an interceptor allows us to get the pod as well.

Two relatively new ships killed tonight, it was a good night.
